Feels Like Home

The LaceUp Running Series once again kicks off the season in beautiful Orange County, CA. The Half Marathon, Marathon Relay, 5K, and Kids Run will take place at Irvine’s Mike Ward Community Park on a fast and flat running path that winds through the vast open space under massive, shaded trees.  LaceUp is thrilled to announce the return of the half marathon course at the Orange County race. Back for 2020, teams will have access to the ultimate runner VIP experience as they race to complete 26.2 miles. After setting a new personal record, kick back and relax with a complimentary craft beer and food truck brunch in a lively event hub. This race is great for the family too, with a Kids Run and children’s activities on the schedule. LaceUp Orange County is a community-oriented race with a big-race feel. You and your team will feel right at home.

Half Marathon

Orange County

LaceUp is thrilled to announce the return of the Orange County Half Marathon! The Half Marathon is a fast, flat 13.1 miles. With just 220 feet of elevation gain, this course is ready for a PR. Tour some of Irvine’s biggest neighborhoods, starting in Woodbridge and heading to Huntley and Walnut. Run past Irvine Valley College and through Orangetree before finishing back in Woodbridge. The Half Marathon course is a loop, starting and finishing at Mike Ward Community Park, a neighborhood park in the heart of Irvine. The course runs on a mix of running paths and roads. Aid stations stocked with Nuun Electrolytes and Honey Stinger product. 

When: Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020—6:30 a.m.
Where: 20 Lake Road, Irvine CA 92604

Please Note: There is a four-hour time limit on the Half Marathon course. Participants need to maintain an 18:20 minute/mile.

Marathon Relay

Orange County

The Marathon Relay is a part of the LaceUp Running Series Orange County kick-off celebration. The relay offers teams of 2-5 people to run a marathon distance of 26.2 miles. Grab your best running friends and register for the Marathon Relay today! 

When: September 12, 2020—6:45 a.m.
Where: 20 Lake Road, Irvine CA 92604

The Marathon Relay will begin and finish at the Mike Ward Community Park in Irvine, CA. The fast and flat running path winds through the vast open space under massive trees and sunny views.

Rules and Important Things to Know:

  • Each team member runs or walks a 5.24-mile course, starting and finishing at the Health and Fitness Expo.
  • Every team member runs the same course.
  • Teams can have 2-5 people. Mixed teams need to have at least two runners of each gender.
  • There will be a designated team area for teams to set up tents, chairs, blankets, etc. Teams will NOT be allowed to bring vehicles into this area. Team area cannot be set up until Saturday morning.
  • Teams are able to bring their own food, snacks, etc.
  • No alcohol allowed in the team area.
  • Runners will qualify for the LaceUp Challenge!

  • Finisher’s medal
  • Free race photos
  • Pace groups
  • Age group awards

Cash Prizes:

  • Corporate Division Fundraising Grants*: 1st- $1000, 2nd- $700, 3rd- $300

*Donations to be made to the corporate team’s non-profit of choice. Non-profits cannot be religiously or politically affiliated and race officials reserve the right to approve the non-profit.

 How to add a team to the Marathon Relay:

  1. The team captain will register themselves for the Marathon Relay and be sure to set up the group/team on the first page of registration.
  2. The team captain will pay the registration fee for the relay and is responsible for collecting payment from team members outside of our registration system.
  3. Once the captain is registered and the team is set up the Captain can let their friends know the team is set up and that they can join the team.
  4. For the remaining members, they will register for the Marathon Relay and will need to join the group/team that the Captain set up when registering.
  5. Each team allows for 5 team members and once 5 members have registered the team will be set and will not allow anyone else to join that team.

 

5k 

Orange County

The Orange County 5K starts and finishes at Mike Ward Community Park, a neighborhood park in the heart of Irvine. Runners will run on the San Diego Creek Trail, the backbone of Orange County’s trail system. This fast and flat course runs southeast, where runners can post a new personal record. This out and back course has one aid station that each runner will pass twice. Aid stations are stocked with Nuun Electrolytes and Honey Stinger product. Don’t delay, the 5K sold out in 2018 and 2019!

When: Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020—7:00 a.m.
Where: 20 Lake Road, Irvine CA 92604

Each participant receives:

  • Craft beer
  • Food truck brunch
  • Tech T-Shirt
  • Finisher’s medal
  • Free race photos
  • Pace groups
  • Age group awards

Note: 5K course time limit is 1 hour. This is a 19:20 pace, great for walkers and runners!

Kids Run

Orange County

If you’re excited about running, your kids will be, too! Help them learn about the joys of running by entering them into the Kids Run. Registration is just $20 per child and includes a race bib, finisher’s medal and event t-shirt. Parents are welcome to run alongside their kids or cheer for them at the start/finish line. Runners will leave the expo area and run in a loop around the park. Kids will run approximately 1K before returning to cheering families and friends! Don’t forget to check out the Kids Zone in the Health & Fitness Expo Area for games, tattoos (one thousand glitter tattoos!), coloring, hula hoops, and much more!

Run Kids Run: The LaceUp Orange County Kids Run is held in partnership with Run Kids Run. Run Kids Run organizes non-competitive active events for young people as part of larger scale events like marathons, triathlons, and bike races.

I can't make it to the race! Can I still get my race shirt and/or medal?

Unfortunately, we do not ship race shirts or medals. All items not picked up on race day are donated to local organizations that are able to repurpose them.

What happens if the race is canceled?

LaceUp Running Series reserves the right to cancel any race due to weather, air quality or other natural factors outside of our control.

In the event of a cancellation, participants will be notified via email, text and social media. Participants will have the option to defer their entry to another race in the same year (if applicable), transfer to a race the following year or donate their entry fee to a local non-profit. If transferring their entry to another race, participants will receive a code equal to the amount of their original payment to use on a future entry. Click HERE for more information on refunds, cancellations and deferrals.

Can I change my race distance?

If you have signed up for a race but would like to change your distance, you can easily do that. Just locate your confirmation email and follow the instructions.

Can I refund my entry?

LaceUp adheres to standard race industry policy. Race entries are NON-REFUNDABLE unless participants have purchased the refund insurance during registration. Click HERE for more information on refunds, cancellations and deferrals.

Are the race venues ADA accessible?

Yes, but please contact info@laceuprunningseries.com for specific details.

Are strollers allowed?

Strollers are allowed at all LaceUp events. Runners with strollers will be asked to start at the back of their respective wave.

How do I earn a challenge medal?

All LaceUp runners must complete a race of any distance all three locations. In addition to individual location medals, each challenge runner will receive a limited edition LaceUp Running Series Challenge medal after the completion of all four races. Learn more about the challenge medal.

Do I get a discount for registering for multiple LaceUp races?

Yes! Register for your second race at 10% off and third race at 15% off. Discounts are automatically applied, and you must register for additional LaceUp events in one transaction to receive the discount.

Will there be pacers?

Yes, there will be pacers for each half marathon and marathon. Please refer to each race location for pacing times.

How do I become a Lexus LaceUp pacer?

Please contact Vanessa Kline at info@beastpacing.com if you’re interested in being a pacer.

Where can I get my results?

Results will be available at the expo space in the Health and Fitness expo area. In addition, results will also be posted online.

Will there be aid stations on course?

There will be aid stations approximately every two miles on each course and at the finish line. Aid stations will be stocked with Nuun and Honey Stinger product.

What is the time limit on the course?

There is a four-hour time limit on the Half Marathon courses. Participants need to maintain a 18:20 minute/mile pace. Participants that fall behind the time limit will be directed to the sidewalk by course staff or police officers. Participants will be allowed to finish the race but will not be guaranteed a finishing time.

Can I pick up my packet on race day?

It’s highly recommended that athletes stop by our pre-race packet pick up, but packet pick up will be available on race day. If you need to pick up your packet on race day you must purchase race day packet pick-up with your registration for an additional $5. Come early, because packet pick up will close 30 minutes before each race.

What if I cannot finish the race?

If you cannot complete the course there will be a vehicle available to bring you back to the finish line, so you can enjoy the Health and Fitness Expo and post-race brunch.

Where can I check my gear during the event?

There is a secure and free Gear Check available for all participants. You can drop off your items before the race and pick them up after the event.

Can I transfer my entry?

Entry fees can be transferred to another participant in the same race of the same calendar year. Any difference of fees will be charged, plus a $10 processing fee. Entries can also be transferred to another LaceUp Running Series location, during the same calendar year. If transferring to another location, a request must be made three days before the event the participant was originally registered.

What are the age group categories?

Age group categories are 9 and under; 10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+. Age group prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age group. If an age group category above 85 has 5 or more participants, an age group prize will be awarded. Overall winners will not qualify for age group prizes.

Prizes can be picked up at the Awards Podium at the race. If you forgot to pick up your age group award on-site, email info@laceuprunningseries.com. Age group awards will be shipped for the cost of shipping.

Is there an age minimum?

Participants must be eight years or older to participate. Participants under the age of eight will be allowed on a case-by-case basis. Please email if interested.

Can I run a different distance than I am registered for?

Participants can transfer distances. Participants transferring to a longer distance will be charged the applicable difference in registration fees, and participants transferring to a shorter distance will not be offered a refund. Please email if interested in changing your race distance.

What is included in the registration fee?

Every participant will receive a LaceUp t-shirt, reusable race bag, high-quality finisher’s medal, timing chip, bib, food truck brunch, Lagunitas beer and free race photo. Learn more about racer perks, HERE.

Are bikes, skateboards, inline skates, dogs or skateboards allowed?

For safety reasons, no bikes, skateboards, inline skates, dogs, or skateboards will be allowed on course.

Can I use headphones during the race?

For safety reasons, we don’t recommend wearing headphones during the race. If runners choose to wear headphones during a race, we request they use a low volume enabling them to hear runners and traffic around them.

How do I become a LaceUp Running Series brand ambassador?

2020 ambassador applications are now closed.
