The Lexus LaceUp Running Series once again kicks off the season in beautiful Orange County, CA. The Team Relay, 10K, 5K, Walk for a Cause and Kid’s Race will take place at Irvine’s Mike Ward Community Park on a fast and flat running path that winds through the vast open space under massive, shaded trees. This year, teams will have access to the ultimate runner VIP experience as they race to complete 26.2 miles. Don’t be surprised when you see the Clippers Spirit Dancers cheering you to the finish. After setting a new personal record, kick back and relax with a complimentary Sierra Nevada beer and food truck brunch in a lively event hub. This race is great for the family too, with a Kid’s Race and children’s activities on the schedule. LaceUp Orange County is a community-oriented race with a big-race feel. You and your team will feel right at home.
The Team Relay is a part of the Lexus LaceUp Running Series Orange County kick-off celebration. The Orange County Team Relay offers teams of 2-5 people to run a marathon distance of 26.2 miles. Grab your best running friends and register for the Team Relay today!

Where: 20 Lake Road, Irvine CA 92604 The Orange County Team Relay will begin and finish from the Mike Ward Community Park in Irvine, CA. The fast and flat running path winds through the vast open space under massive trees and sunny views.
Rules and Important Things to Know:
- Each team member runs or walks a 5.24-mile course, starting and finishing at the Health and Fitness Expo.
- Every team member runs the same course.
- Teams can have 2-5 people. Mixed teams need to have at least two runners of each gender.
- There will be a designated team area for teams to set up tents, chairs, blankets, etc. Teams will NOT be allowed to bring vehicles into this area. Team area cannot be set up until Saturday morning.
- Teams are able to bring their own food, snacks, etc.
- No alcohol allowed in the team area.
- Runners will qualify for the LaceUp Challenge.
Each participant receives:

- Re-useable race bag
- High-quality finisher’s medal
- Chip timing

How to add a team to the Team Relay:
- The team captain will register themselves for the Team Relay and be sure to set up the group/team on the first page of registration.
- The team captain will pay the registration fee for the relay and is responsible for collecting payment from team members outside of our registration system.
- Once the captain is registered and the team is set up the Captain can let their friends know the team is set up and that they can join the team.
- For the remaining members, they will register for the OC Marathon Relay and will need to join the group/team that the Captain set up when registering.
- Each team allows for 5 team members and once 5 members have registered the team will be set and will not allow anyone else to join that team.

Walk for a Cause
The Lexus LaceUp Running Series presents the Orange County Walk for a Cause 5K with American Diabetes Association. The Lexus LaceUp Running Series is excited to announce the Orange County Walk for a Cause with proceeds going to the American Diabetes Association. The Southern California running series is hosting a 5K walk on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 in Irvine, CA. The walk is a part of the Orange County Team Relay event, one of four 2017 LaceUp Running Series events. Proceeds from the Orange County Walk for a Cause event will aid in the American Diabetes Association’s mission “to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes”. The Association funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes; delivers services to hundreds of communities; provides objective and credible information; and gives voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes. Why: Walk for a great cause with a portion of the proceeds going to American Diabetes Association!
Registration starts at $25 and includes a tech tee, finisher medal, race bib, aid stations and racer bag. Walkers may also opt to purchase a food and beer voucher for $10, which is redeemable at LaceUp’s post race event party.
If you’re excited about running, your kids will be, too! Help them learn about the joys of running by entering them into the Kids Race. Registration is just $20 per child and includes a race bib, finisher’s medal and event t-shirt. Parents are welcome to run alongside their kids or cheer for them at the start/finish line. Runners will leave the expo area and run in a loop around the park. Kids will run approximately 1K before returning to cheering families and friends! Don’t forget to check out the Kids Zone in the Health & Fitness Expo Area for games, tattoos (one thousand glitter tattoos!), coloring, hula hoops, and much more!

NEW! All Kids Race participants are eligible for the LaceUp Challenge Medal! Run all three LaceUp Kids Races (Orange County, Ventura, Riverside) to earn this medal. Also, every Kids Race registration comes with a raffle entry to win a free pair of Saucony shoes! The raffle for Saucony shoes will be drawn after the final race in Riverside. Kids and parents are eligible to win.
Run Kids Run LaceUp’s Kids Runs are held in partnership with Run Kids Run. Run Kids Run organizes non-competitive active events for young people as part of larger scale events like marathons, triathlons, and bike races. Children can become members of our YAY TEAM to receive monthly updates on upcoming events and earn rewards for participating in the activities we host.
Healthy Happy Hour
The Lexus LaceUp Running Series presented by Saucony is excited to announce the addition of the new Healthy Happy Hour which will kick off the 2017 fall running season Sept. 8. The event is free and open to the public. Runners and fitness buffs of all types are invited to mingle with like-minded people in the lush Mike Ward Community Park while enjoying craft beer, wine, mocktails, healthy food trucks, a raffle and more.
The evening will feature demos and deals from Southern California wellness products and services. Health and fitness experts will also be on hand to discuss exercise, training, nutrition, injury prevention and more. Registration and packet pick-up for the Lexus Orange County Team Relay, 10K, 5K, Kid’s Race, and Walk for a Cause, with proceeds going to the American Diabetes Association, will also take place at the event.
The Healthy Happy Hour is the perfect way for people to connect with their community at an event promoting wellness and fun. With so many different types of gyms, studios, and products on site, people will be able to learn about new ways of integrating healthy activity into their daily lives.

Items Needed for Packet Pick-Up: Proper ID for each participant
Can another runner pick up my packet for me?
- All they need is a copy of your ID (phone photo works).
What if I can’t make it to packet pick-up at all? It is HIGHLY recommended to pick up your packet on Friday; However, there will be race day packet pick-up at the start line starting at 6:45 a.m. If you are picking up on race day PLEASE arrive one hour prior to your start time. Same-day packet pick-up will close 15 minutes before each race.
I’m running the Team Relay. Does the entire team need to go to packet pick-up? One person can attend packet pick-up for the whole team. They will need copies of all team members ID’s (phone pictures are great!).

Friday and Saturday parking will be available on-site at Mike Ward Community Park, 20 Lake Rd, Irvine, CA 92604. Please enter Lake Road from Alton Parkway to avoid course road closures. Can I change my race distance?
Can I refund my entry?
Participants may receive refunds if they purchase the $8.00 refund insurance during registration. Participants can request a %100 refund of their registration fee, including processing fees, if they are unable to attend due to covered reasons such as injury, illness, pregnancy and unexpected travel delays. If no insurance is purchased, no refunds will be given.

Can I transfer my entry?
Entry fees can be transferred to another participant in the same race of the same calendar year. Any difference of fees will be charged, plus a $10 processing fee. Entries can also be transferred to another LaceUp Running Series location, during the same calendar year. If transferring to another location, a request must be made three days before the event the participant was originally registered.
What are the age group categories?
Age group categories are 9 and under; 10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+. Age group prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age group. If an age group category above 85 has 5 or more participants, an age group prize will be awarded. Overall winners will not qualify for age group prizes.
Prizes can be picked up at the Awards Podium at the race. If you forgot to pick up your age group award on-site, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Age group awards will be shipped for the cost of shipping.
