VENTURA, CALIFORNIA- The Ventura race started off on a chilly fall morning with a spectacular sunrise. Several hundred runners came out ready to lace up and run one of their fastest half marathon, 10k or 5k races. The course views were stunning with ocean views of surfers off in the distance. Spectators and volunteers shouted out words of encouragement to the runners as they headed to the finish. At the end of the day, Chris Kollar won the men’s half marathon with a screaming fast time of 1:11:58 and Cassie Booker led the women’s half marathon with a time of 1:27:06.

After the race, Lexus offered popular post-race massages and refreshing orange and lemon water plus cool, free water bottles available to everyone. The #LexusLaceUp Instagram photo booth was packed, as people who posted photos on Instagram using the hashtag were able to enjoy free printouts of their race experience. And of course, people enjoyed scrumptious food truck brunch items topped off with tasty Sierra Nevada craft brews.

In addition to the races, Saucony held a plank competition for a free shoe giveaway to the top female and male competitor. The female winner, who was dripping sweat the whole time, won the competition holding a plank for over 11 minutes. However, the male winner held the position for 12:38. The crowd was awesome and enthusiastically cheered for the plank competitors.

As Halloween is around the corner, an award was also granted to the best costumed runner. A girl dressed as a cow-angel was chosen as the winner of the LaceUp Platinum Pumpkin (she also won a free entry to her choice of the next two races).
