IRVINE, California — About 1,000 racers met in Mike Ward Community Park on Saturday to take part in the Lexus LaceUp Running Series presented by Saucony.

The first event of a four-part series in Southern California included a 10k and 5k. The weather finally cooled after a heat wave hit the area just in time for the series kick-off event. With a thin cloud veil protecting the racers throughout the race, running conditions were ideal.

After racers competed on the the scenic, fast course they were treated to a food truck brunch and celebratory beer in the shady Sierra Nevada beer garden. At the Health & Fitness Expo, the Lexus Recharge Station featured refreshing orange and cucumber water as well as a post-race massages and roll-outs. Every runner who used #LexusLaceUp on Instagram was able to pick up a free print of their photo at the Recharge Station (this will be offered at all race stops). Saucony was on hand demoing shoes but also added to the competition by inviting people to participate in the Plank Challenge to win a pair of shoes. The winner held a plank for more than 10 minutes!

This year, Lexus is also pleased to offer free race photos through Runner Buzz. Racers receive an email from Runner Buzz with a link to post photos to their Facebook pages, but they also can download the photos HERE.
